About Us

Introducing Ya Baum, a brand-new pastry concept created by the minds behind Yamanote Atelier. Specialising in a delicacy known as Baumkuchen cakes, the little sister of Dubai’s premier boutique Japanese bakery is branching out and ready to bring you your new taste obsession.

Literally translated into “tree cake”, Baumkuchen is a popular slice of German culture that was introduced to Japan over 100 years ago and adopted as one of the country’s most popular desserts taking on a new identity with local flavours such as Matcha and Sakura. It is so well-loved that it even has its own Japanese national day!

The incredible taste of Baumkuchen is only rivalled by the uniqueness of its looks. The shape and form of this playful cake is made up of multiple layers resembling none other than tree rings, and once baked and sliced these multiple layers are a real feast for the eyes.

Ya Baum will leave you curious, wondering how this pastry masterpiece came to be, and as you devour it layer by layer, you’ll be inspired to step out of your comfort zone and discover our dynamic and ever evolving way of life.

Our Story

In a land far, far away, a master Baumkuchen maker was busy baking away, when one of his many traditional Baumkuchen sticks rolled off the rack, tumbling out of the kitchen and leaving its birthplace.

The long Baumkuchen cake slowly separated into many slices as it bumped and bounced its way up and down the rolling hills.

Eventually, each piece of the Baumkuchen found itself in a new and different land, learning to adapt to the local habitat, and eventually evolving to become a part of their adopted homes.
